I was thinking about how Ranok made it seem like he was forced to ditch Caelan in Strandbard. His wording to Caelan (taken from memory only) seemed to be something along the lines of "It's what my father wants, what he demands" and really sounded like he was being ordered to do it. He even had this strained expression, was even crying, as if he didn't want to do it but had to. On top of that, all this reveal comes right after his story about Tano, where he sets up early that he has always put duty and responsibility first. But if I'm guessing right and Varok & co gave him the responsibility/command of leaving Caelan in Strandbard... it would mean they were being disingenuous when they were expressing confusion at him being taken on the trip (during the meeting before their departure)

Loved this so much. This keeps coming back to me and I can't wait for the next update.

The strangest part for me though is how, right before the pair left, the elders were making this "eyebrows raised" kinda deal about why Ranok would be bringing Caelan with him at all to Strandbard. Like they were confused as to why Ranok would even bring him. You mean to say Ranok wasn't forced into this decision by his dad?
